FYI new mayday tileset for d16

I am so happy mayday keeps up to date so quickly. So far there is a huge difference in the feel of the graphics but for the better also noticed it took an instant to create a new world.

wind mill success

After the success of the water wheel we decided to give a wind mill a try which combined with our none channel aqueduct design worked better than I had anticipated in draining a lake and keeping the rooms bellow safe and undisturbed

late spring 205

We received 25 new migrants immediately after we were done building our new living quarters. With that came a dungeon master. He is quite right now all he did was hand me a parchment with a list of his demands with the kings royal seal on it.

So we had to start another living quarters expansion within days of the first being complete. After the Stakud Erinthingul the miner had completed the digging portion he started to mutter to himself a lot he then went up stairs and took the masons work shop no one could stop him. he was in there for several days and when he came out he had made a rock coffin which was great cause that’s one of the dungeon masters demands but I don’t think Stakud is well, I will be keeping a close eye on him.

We also built our first water wheel and pump, to pump out a pond near the fortress. It was a great success and we have already started to make plans for future work.

Also we built a bridge over the river and started to build watch towers next to it. But before we could finish building the defense the goblins have attacked us twice the first time we fought them off quite well only 2 casualties the second time was a little more of a surprise and we lost some civilian dwarfs to an ambush.

We are working on new military plans currently and looking to recruit.

Snospdamon 203

Much work has been done over the last season although no migrants came. (yay!!)
We have built our new fortifications off the initial building up above.
We also placed the base for our spire of the dead, and hope to see it start to take shape soon.
We have built a whole new living quarter’s level with our first modest vault.
Which brings me to the more exciting news; we have minted our first batch of copper coins. It’s not much but we are proud of the accomplishment.

We built a small protected outbuilding for the well which means we will have fresh water available during times when enemies are around.

Still haven’t found anything to make iron or steel, just the small copper vein. We are in need of another miners pick.

Food stocks are good and we have enough dwarven ale to keep spirits high for now.

DF Haiku

The carp gaze at me,

Deep under water I plunge,

Should of trimmed my beard

Sorry I haven't posted in a bit, I have been burnt out as of late but I am returning with more from our epic DF game.

Building a well

In all my years I have never encountered a problem with building a well. This place may just be cursed by the carp. As soon as we smelted our newly found copper to bars Vdil Mothdastmorul took control of the black smith forge and used all of our copper for the well chain to build a goblet. I am happy to see our dwarfs taking an initiative to craft fine things but the need for a well outweighs any trinkets right now. We have lost more to the carp half of the new recruits didn't come back from collecting water how am I suppose to protect the people from the carp when our own military is helpless against this foe. We told everyone it was a kobold ambush some are refusing to go out now. Worst case was the stoneworker that died of thirst from refusing to leave the fortress lower levels. I half considered locking up Vdil Mothdastmorul and smelting his cup back to copper bars to make the chain. But lucky for him the miners hit another vein of copper and I spared his sanity and the goblet and went to work smelting and building the chain for the well.

THE CARP

Spring has arrived, we built a depot and an Elvin caravan came and went just as fast before we could even start trading. I have been told they have crap to trade anyhow.

We have run into a slight issue with the fish population the CARP! They have killed my recruit Iton Zaludeshtan and the new glass maker along with a peasant, this has dampen the spirits of the others already the cook had a bit of a meltdown but we have managed to calm him down.

Already we have an influx of immigrants coming in this season we are now at 32 strong and don’t have enough beds for everyone. I am concerned that unrest will follow we are having some trouble setting up a well for drinking and I don’t even know what skills each of the newcomers have.

We have hit some copper while expanding the sleeping quarters this should make the well building move faster, people are starting to complain about the water, and why it runs red, I keep telling them it’s the algae but I fear that they soon will make the correlation of the water going red and dwarfs not returning.
